Routines

August 3rd, 2009 · 2 Comments · Life

I do best when I have a routine. My routines help me make sure I do the things I love to do.
Without them, I think I would spend all day drifting around, surfing the internet, and then being mad at myself for not getting anything done!

My mornings go like this:

6am: Wake up. Ok sometimes it’s 630 or 7am but usually around 6am.
615-645am: Practice yoga
645-715am: Make and eat drink breakfast (pretty much always a smoothie these days)
715-8am: Walk the dogs
8am: Either leave to teach yoga OR head out for a run OR use our elliptical machine

The middle of the day is always different and then my evenings go like this:

6pm OR 7pm if I taught an evening class: Eat dinner
730-815pm: Walk the dogs
815-9pm: Watch TV / hang out with D.
9pm-10pm: Get ready for bed, read, go to sleep

What routines do you have in your life?
How do they help you?

Routine makes me happy and less stressed.
I learned this from spending blocks of time at a Yoga ashram where there IS routine…
Having a routine means that I “know” what I should be doing at 7am (eating breakfast!) and all the other stuff running around in my head is irrelevent at that time. That’s a nice feeling :)
    And so it goes…
I think I have got too much in my routine & therefore don’t always fulfill it. I like your idea of routine in am & pm with freedom in the middle of the day…
    Hmmm…thanks for sharing :)

Hi Kirralie – Yes I’ve noticed that while I need to have routine, I need to have free unstructured time as well. Always balancing the two….
