I've used my neti even when I've been completely clogged up. Something always seems to get through and flush stuff out. Okay, gross, I know - but you asked! :-)

Thanks y'all! I've been staying away from neti pot as my nose has been completely stuffed. Do you try the neti regardless? Anyway now that I'm breathing freely I'll definitely use my neti tonight.

Kayaking - I'll have to give it a try! :)

I will second the neti pot. Also, copious amounts of tea and herbal infusions. My favorite thing to drink when I'm sick is a hot ginger/lemon tea.

- Take a 1 inch finger of ginger (or however much you like) and slice it into thin coins. You don't have to peel it, just give it a good scrub under running water first.
- Squeeze 1 - 2 lemons and put the juice and the ginger coins into a teapot.
- Drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of honey or agave nectar over the lot and add boiling water to fill the pot.
- Steep for 10 minutes, or as long as you can wait.
- Sip happily.

This also makes an amazing iced beverage on a hot summer's day, whether you are sick or not.

FEEL BETTER SOON!

I take mega doses of vitamin C when I feel a cold coming on, or when I'm trying to get rid of one (I normally take 1000mg a day, so I double or triple it when I feel that my immune system is challenged). I've also had good success with the Zicam nasal swabs - despite the fact that it sounds like a pharmaceutical and is sold in regular drugstores and grocery stores, it's a homeopathic remedy. If you take it as soon as you feel something coming on, it can actually ward off the cold. It definitely shortens the duration and severity of a cold once you have it. And lastly, I swear by my Neti Pot. It really cuts down on the misery of congestion.

Feel better fast, Julia!
