Hi! Thanks for checking out my blog. My name is Julia and this blog is about my journey to maintaining my health. I am 40 years old and living in Northern

June 2009
Virigina. I am a yoga teacher and I LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do! I started teaching about 4 years ago – prior to that I was a management consultant! It was a major change for me to leave the corporate world and pursue something I love instead of something I was doing for the $$$. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my amazing husband Doug!
There was a time in between being a consultant and a yoga teacher when I started my own business as a nutrition coach. I am a Certified Nutritionist and Holistic Health Counselor, and worked primarily with women who were trying to look and feel their best. I really liked working as a nutrition coach, but once I started teaching yoga I realized that was truly my calling.
I teach through my own company called Double Dog Yoga in Herndon, VA. We specialize in vinyasa yoga classes for beginners. I totally love teaching beginners and am just so happy I figured that out! I also teach at Flow Yoga in Leesburg, Beloved Yoga in Reston, and The South Riding
Wellness Connection in South Riding.
Last year I lost 22 pounds by doing Weight Watchers. Yup, even with my nutrition background I needed some support! Weight Watchers rocks – definitely try it if you are serious about losing weight. I don’t go to their meetings or eat their food; I use their online point system which was a HUGE WAKE UP CALL. I was eating WAY too many points before I started. I used to always wonder why I was the weight I was and DUH it was the food. So now at 5’4 I’m 120 pounds and trying to hold steady. I’m really happy with my weight for the first time in my LIFE.
So again thanks for reading – I look forward to getting to know you too

Hi Julia! Great blog – I saw your comment over at Oh She Glows, and thought I’d stop by and say hello
I used to live in NoVa too!
I’ve been doing a bit of research into becoming a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, so I’d be interested to hear more about your experience counseling others…and I’ll definitely be back to try some of your recipes!
Hi Menden! Thanks for dropping in! I’d love to talk with you about being a Nutritionist so let me know if you ever want to talk. And…I never thought of this before but it seems that might be good blog fodder! xoxox Julia
Julia, I did not even recognize that was you on the photo!
Hi Julia,
Love your blog! I teach yoga (Hatha) and also teach others about Ayurveda. So glad to find your blog! I found it through Disney over at rufflesandstuff.com I’m glad she blogged about your post. Always a beautiful thing to find other sisters online. Love and light.
